Emergency calls on an eSIM-only line

Yes. Emergency calls work on any phone with signal, on any line, with or without an active plan. That's the law nearly everywhere, not a feature of your plan. Your plan is data only, with no phone number, calls, or SMS. Calls and texts keep using your home number. An emergency call goes out over your home line or the strongest network available. Your phone handles that by itself.

More detail

The number changes by country. It's 112 across Europe and much of the world, and 112 connects from most mobiles even where it isn't the local number. It's 911 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico; 999 in the UK; 000 in Australia; 111 in New Zealand; and 110 for police or 119 for fire and ambulance in Japan. Save the local number for where you're headed before you go.

If your status bar shows "SOS only" or "Emergency calls only," your phone has found a network but not full service. Emergency calls still go through. For everything else, see Phone stuck searching for a network, or showing SOS only.
