Network migration notice: what changes for your plan
If you received a notice that your plan is moving to a new partner network, nothing is needed from you before the date it names. On that date, your phone may show a new network name in the status bar and take a minute to reconnect; if it doesn't reconnect on its own, Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds and off again is the fix. Your plan, its days, and its data don't change.
From time to time we move the plans in a country from one partner network to another, to improve coverage or replace an agreement that's ending. We tell you by email and in the app before it happens, with the date. This page is the plain-language version of that notice.
- Before the date: nothing to do. Your plan keeps working on the current network.
- On the date, your phone registers on the new network by itself.
- You may see a new name in the status bar, and a gap of a minute or two.
- If it doesn't reconnect, switch on Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, then switch it off again.
- If network selection was set by hand, set it back to automatic.
- If the country needs an APN, check it's still set (see your add guide, Setting your APN).
- Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over. A migration doesn't pause, extend, or restart your validity.
- The new network name is normal; see Why does my status bar show a carrier I don't recognize?.
- If you're mid-trip on the date and still offline after the steps above, message us; see Still not working? When to contact us and what to send.
