When does my plan start, and how are the days counted?

Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over. A 10-day plan bought two weeks before departure still gives you 10 full days from the moment you first connect, and a delayed flight doesn't cost you a day.

More detail

Until you connect abroad, nothing runs and nothing is used. That's why you can add the plan at home, on Wi-Fi, days ahead, and leave data roaming off until you land. On iPhone, you can even add the line with Turn On This Line Later; it sits on your phone, switched off, until you turn it on.

Change flights, add a stopover, or push the trip out a month, and the plan waits. Two purchase-based windows are the only things a long delay can affect: the plan has to be started within its activation window, shown as "Activate before" at checkout and in My plans, and a refund has to be requested within 90 days of purchase. A delay of days doesn't come close to either.

Once the plan has started, its days run continuously, including any day you don't use it. You can see the status and the days left in My plans.
