यात्री क्या हमसे सबसे ज़्यादा क्या पूछा जाता है?
On the Africa plan, 31 countries including Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, and Niger. Not on the Global plan. Togo is a separate plan. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Nigeria your plan connects to MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile, with 5G in the big cities and 4G LTE elsewhere. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
Yes, in Lagos and Abuja, over the plan's data, with the phone number you already have. A Nigeria plan is data only; calls home go over WhatsApp or another app, and your home number keeps working on your home SIM for texts and bank codes.
An unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed and slower after, covers daily video calls and a laptop on the hotspot at the lowest daily rate. Top up or add a new plan from the app whenever one runs out; the eSIM stays on the phone.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Nigeria plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Nigeria eSIM for Lagos, Abuja, business trips, and Detty December
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Lagos is Africa's biggest city, a place that runs on bank transfers, ride apps, and a traffic app that decides when you leave, and Murtala Muhammed's arrivals hall is where the phone should already be working. The best eSIM for Nigeria is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the Bolt to Victoria Island is booked and the meeting confirmed before the immigration queue moves.
Below: how a Nigeria plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in Lagos, Abuja, and beyond, and which plan fits when Ghana or the rest of the region is on the same trip.
African itineraries change, and most travel eSIMs make you start over every time they do. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: one country when you're staying put, the Africa plan when the route crosses borders, and whatever comes next after that. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Nigeria, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Nigeria plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Nigeria plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Murtala Muhammed at Lagos is on the mainland, an hour or more from Victoria Island and Lekki in traffic, and Bolt and Uber both run from the terminal with the number you already have; Abuja's airport is about 45 minutes from the center. An e-visa or visa on arrival covers many passports, arranged in advance; keep the confirmation saved offline. The naira is the currency, cards work in the hotels, malls, and restaurants of the big cities, and cash and instant bank transfers cover the rest.
Lagos's Lekki, Victoria Island, and Ikoyi are where the business and the nightlife are; the Third Mainland Bridge is the daily fact of life, and a ride booked in the app while you finish a meeting beats one hailed on the road.
Instant bank transfers are how Nigeria pays, and they need a Nigerian account; visitors pay by card in the hotels and malls and carry naira for the rest, with the plan keeping the bank app on data for the card approvals.
Abuja is the planned capital, with Aso Rock, the national mosque and church, and the ministries; Calabar's carnival in December, Ibadan's university city, and the Yankari reserve's warm springs are the trips beyond. The cities have 5G, the highways 4G, and the reserves and the rural roads thin out; organizations sending staff to the north and the Niger Delta issue their own security guidance, which should be followed over anything on this page.
Lagos's own sights are a week: the Nike art gallery, the Lekki Conservation Centre's canopy walk, the beaches at Tarkwa Bay by boat, the Balogun market, and a night at the New Afrika Shrine; the city's restaurants and clubs book by WhatsApp and Instagram, which is the practical reason the plan matters after dark as much as in the boardroom.
Lagos and Abuja are business cities, and a lot of visits are a week of meetings with video calls from a hotel in Victoria Island; MTN's, Airtel's, Glo's, and 9mobile's 5G handle that. For a posting of weeks, an unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed, covers the calls and the hotspot for a laptop when the office's connection fails; power cuts are daily and a power bank keeps the phone useful.
Nigeria is on the Africa plan, 31 countries on one plan that also covers Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, and Niger; a Lagos and Accra trip runs on the Africa plan with the phone switching networks by itself when you land. Nigeria is not on the Global plan. Togo, between Benin and Ghana on the coast road, is sold as its own plan and is not on the Africa plan. A Nigeria-only plan stops at the border. Read crossing into a border country your plan doesn't include before a route that leaves the plan's coverage.
December is Lagos's month, when the diaspora comes home and the city fills with concerts, beach parties on the Lekki coast, and the festivals that sell out online; hotels and flights book months ahead. The rainy season runs April to October in the south, and the harmattan haze arrives from the Sahara in December and January.
Your plan connects to MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile, with 5G in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, and Kano and 4G LTE across the towns and highways. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
In the rural north, the Delta's creeks, and the reserves, expect gaps on any network, and expect power to be intermittent everywhere. Save what you need in the cities.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Nigeria plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
For Africa the alternatives are a home-carrier roaming rate that is often not offered at all, a local SIM in each country with registration paperwork at each border, or lodge Wi-Fi that works in the bar and nowhere else. A Nigeria plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and one plan across every border on the route.
