Had a KnowRoaming SIM card? What's changed
The KnowRoaming SIM card and the platform behind it were discontinued and replaced by eSIM plans. The card and your old login no longer work. To travel with KnowRoaming now, create an account on the new platform and add a plan to your phone; it takes about a minute.
KnowRoaming now sells prepaid data plans that go onto an eSIM built into your phone, called KR.One. There's nothing to post and nothing to swap: you add the eSIM once, then add a plan for each trip. The physical SIM card, the old app, and the old account system are retired.
- Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked: Is my phone compatible with eSIM? The one-minute check.
- Create an account at knowroaming.com or in the KnowRoaming app. Your old login doesn't carry over.
- Choose a destination and a plan, and add it to your phone: How to add your plan, start to finish.
- Turn on data roaming when you land.
- Your plan is data only, with no phone number, calls, or SMS. Calls and texts keep using your home number. The old card's number, if you had one, isn't carried over.
- Take the old SIM card out of your phone if it's still in; it no longer connects.
- Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
