How unlimited plans work: a daily full-speed allowance, then slower

On an unlimited country plan, you get 5 GB at full speed every 24 hours. On the Global plan, it's 2 GB, then up to 256 kbps. After the allowance, you stay connected at a reduced speed until it resets. Nothing stops and nothing is charged; the allowance resets every 24 hours from the moment your plan started.

More detail

Unlimited means you never run out and never need a top-up for data. What changes after the daily allowance is speed: full speed for the first 5 GB in each 24-hour period on a country plan, or 2 GB on the Global plan, then a reduced speed that still handles maps, messaging, email, and most browsing until the allowance resets. Streaming video and large downloads are what use an allowance fastest.

The 24-hour period is counted from when the plan first connected, not from midnight, so the reset time is the same each day of your trip. Hotspot and tethering count against the allowance the same as use on your phone.

Choose an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count, or when streaming, video calls, or hotspot are part of the trip. Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price; it stops when the data is used and a top-up brings it back. Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
