Turn off data roaming on your home SIM before you fly, so it can't run up charges in the background while the KnowRoaming line carries your data. Your home number keeps working for calls and texts.
Before you start
Where your SIM list is, by phone. iPhone: Settings > Cellular. Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager. Other Android phones: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
Steps
- Open your SIM list, at the path above for your phone.
- Tap your home carrier's line, not the KnowRoaming line.
- Turn off Data Roaming for that line only.
- When you land, switch data to the KnowRoaming line and turn on its roaming (taps in Good to know).
Good to know
- Your plan is data only, with no phone number, calls, or SMS. Calls and texts keep using your home number.
- Leave the home line switched on. Turning the whole line off would stop calls and texts, and some banking codes, from reaching you.
- When you get home, turn data roaming off and set your data back to your regular SIM, so you don't pick up roaming charges. Your KnowRoaming plan stays on your phone, ready for your next trip. If you normally use data roaming on your home SIM, turn it back on then.
