Coverage in China

China has its own plan, and it's also on the Asia plan and the Global plan. Set the kroly APN before you connect. Mainland China's internet rules apply on every network. Google services, WhatsApp, and many other common apps are blocked, whichever eSIM or carrier you use.

More detail

The rules are national policy, not a KnowRoaming limit, and no plan gets around them. Download the apps, maps, and translations you'll need before you arrive, and expect some services not to work. FaceTime and WhatsApp video, Google Play, and many streaming services are among those blocked. A VPN set up before you land is the usual workaround. It's yours to choose, not ours to recommend.

Hong Kong and Macao have their own plans, and the mainland rules don't apply there. If the trip crosses from the mainland into either, the Asia plan covers all three.

The signal is strongest around cities, airports, and main routes and thins in rural and remote areas, the same as at home. Each country's page says where, and names the networks your plan uses there. See What to expect from coverage, city to countryside. Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
