Because your plan connects through local networks, not a KnowRoaming-branded one. The name in your status bar is the network you're on, the same one locals use. Seeing it means the connection is working as designed.
We don't publish which network you'll land on in each country. Partners change, and your phone picks the strongest signal available at the time. So the name can differ between two visits to the same country. That isn't a downgrade. Where the partner networks are named, they're on the destination page for your country.
If the signal feels weak or slow, choose a different network by hand. See Switch networks manually when the automatic pick is weak. If the name shows but nothing loads, that's a setting, not the network. See Full bars but nothing loads: signal without data.
KnowRoaming partners with top-tier local networks to provide strong connectivity in urban areas and travel hubs. While rural performance can vary depending on the country, travelers typically enjoy excellent service in major cities and popular destinations.
