Turn on data roaming for your plan on Samsung
Two settings get you online when you land: the KnowRoaming eSIM on and set as your Mobile data SIM, and Data roaming switched on. The app can add the plan, but only your phone's settings can switch roaming on.
Before you start
Do this after you land. At home, the plan shows no service, and that's normal. Your home SIM stays exactly as it is; calls and texts keep using it.
Steps
- Open Settings and tap Connections.
- Tap SIM manager.
- Turn on your KnowRoaming eSIM.
- Under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to your KnowRoaming eSIM.
- Go back to Connections and tap Mobile networks.
- Turn on Data roaming.
- Give your phone a minute. When a network name appears in your status bar, you're online.
Give your phone a minute to connect once you land. Still nothing? Switch on Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, then switch it off again.
Setting your APN
Most destinations need no APN. If yours is on this list, add it before you connect:

No APN needed
Enter the value in lowercase with no spaces. On Samsung: Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names, then select your KnowRoaming eSIM's tab. If the APN is listed, select it. If not, tap Add, enter any name you'll recognize, enter the value under APN, then tap Save and select it.
Good to know
- Your plan is data only, with no phone number, calls, or SMS. Calls and texts keep using your home number.
- Data saver holds back apps on mobile data. Turn it off in Settings > Connections > Data usage while you travel.
- Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
- When you get home, turn data roaming off and set your data back to your regular SIM, so you don't pick up roaming charges. Your KnowRoaming plan stays on your phone, ready for your next trip.
- Settings names and screens vary a little by One UI version. Checked on One UI 8.
