哪些旅行者 大家最常问我们什么？
Yes. The Europe plan covers Germany and 48 other countries, including all nine of its neighbors, and your phone switches networks by itself at the border. Choose it over a Germany-only plan if Salzburg, Strasbourg, Amsterdam, or Prague is on the route. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Germany your plan connects to O2, with 5G in the cities and along the ICE lines and 4G LTE elsewhere. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
Yes, with 5G along most of the fast corridors and drops in the tunnels, the same as on any network. Download the Deutsche Bahn app's offline ticket before you board.
At the resort bases and in the valley towns, yes. Above the tree line, in the huts, and on the high trails, often not, on any network. Download maps before you go up.
A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (a daily high-speed allowance, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. The price depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying; every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Germany plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
Expect gaps. In the high Alps, the Black Forest valleys, and the tunnels on the fast lines, expect gaps on any network.
Germany eSIM for Berlin, Munich, the trains, and nine neighbors
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

Germany is a country of fast trains, a monthly transit ticket that lives in an app, and a surprising number of places that still want cash, and the first hour goes better with a phone that works at the gate. The best eSIM for Germany is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the S-Bahn from Frankfurt or Munich airport is bought on the platform and the ICE to the next city on board.
Below: how a Germany plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in the cities, on the rails, and in the Alps, and why a country with nine neighbors usually wants the Europe plan.
Most travel eSIMs make you start over for every country, which in Europe means a new QR code every few days. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, and from then on each trip is a plan you add to it: Germany now, Spain in the spring, the whole continent on a Europe plan when the itinerary gets ambitious. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Germany, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you a daily high-speed allowance, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM. Hotspot works on every plan, fixed or unlimited; a laptop or a travel partner's phone shares the same eSIM data.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Germany plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Germany plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap is in how to add your plan, start to finish, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Frankfurt's airport has an S-Bahn to the center in about 15 minutes and long-distance trains from the terminal; Munich's S-Bahn takes 40; Berlin Brandenburg's regional trains 30. The Deutsche Bahn app sells every train ticket in the country and shows the delays honestly, and the local transit apps sell the day passes; Uber and Bolt run in the big cities.
Germany uses the euro and cards are accepted more widely each year, but cash is still expected at bakeries, market stalls, beer gardens, and many smaller restaurants; carry some. Museums, the Reichstag dome, and Neuschwanstein sell timed slots online, and the walk-up queue is the worst hour of the trip.
Berlin to Munich is four hours by ICE, Frankfurt to Cologne one, Hamburg to Berlin under two, with 5G along most of the fast lines and drops in the tunnels. The Romantic Road, the Rhine gorge, the Black Forest, and the Baltic coast are the drives and regional-train trips; the Autobahn's unrestricted stretches are fewer than the legend, and the traffic apps over data are the way to know.
Cologne's cathedral, Hamburg's harbor and Speicherstadt, Dresden's rebuilt center, and Heidelberg's castle are each a day from a fast-train station; the regional trains on the nationwide monthly ticket reach the small towns, slowly, and the ticket lives in the Deutsche Bahn app.
Garmisch and the Zugspitze, Berchtesgaden, and the Allgäu are the German Alps, with 5G at the bases and gaps above the tree line and in the huts. Oktoberfest, from mid-September into October, fills Munich's hotels a year out and runs its tent reservations online; the Christmas markets, from late November, are the winter draw in every city, Nuremberg and Dresden above all.
The Rhine and Moselle valleys' wine villages, the Baltic beaches of Rügen, and the Wadden Sea's tidal flats are the softer trips, well covered in the towns and thin on the water and the dykes.
Germany touches Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and every one of them is on the Europe plan: 49 countries on one plan, switching networks by itself at the border. Strasbourg is a tram ride from Kehl, Salzburg an hour and a half from Munich, Basel and Amsterdam a train each. A Germany-only plan stops at the border, so for any trip that crosses one, the Europe plan is the better buy from the start. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
Berlin is a long-stay city for students, founders, and remote workers, with fast 5G, coworking in every district, and a bureaucracy that runs on paper and appointments booked online. For a stay of weeks, an unlimited plan, with a daily high-speed allowance, covers calls and the hotspot; fixed plans suit a city weekend. Both are on the plan selector at the top of this page.
Your plan connects to O2, with 5G in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, and every major city and along the fast-rail corridors, and 4G LTE across the towns and countryside. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
In the high Alps, the Black Forest valleys, and the tunnels on the fast lines, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most current iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, the same check shows you where to look.
Keep your home number too
Adding a Germany plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
One plan. No roaming surprises. Live the moment you land.
For a European trip the real competition isn't another eSIM. It's your home carrier's roaming add-on, priced for a weekend and throttled by midweek; the SIM counter in arrivals, after the flight, with a queue; and café Wi-Fi, in a country where even the bus ticket is in an app. A Germany plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Europe plan waiting if the trip grows.
Real travelers rate KnowRoaming 4.5 out of 5 on Reviews.io. More than a decade in travel connectivity, more than 200 destinations, and support that doesn't clock off: WhatsApp and live chat, any time, any day.

梦想中的目的地， 即时数据。
We have used KnowRomaing for at least the last two years for multiple trips abroad, mainly in Europe. The first time we used it I had an issue that it would not work even though I had installed it. The help desk on What's App was awesome and very responsive. They quickly figured out my phone was locked by cell service provider. They gave me instructions on contacting my provider to unlock the phone and after that evertying worked as advertised. I have recommended KnowRoaming to multiple friends.

Works well, had no issues abroad.

Very good coverage for Istanbul. Just wish we able to carry over unused data and not have it expire.
