How KnowRoaming compares to your home carrier's roaming add-on

More detail

A roaming pass is usually a daily fee that keeps charging for every day your phone touches a foreign network, sometimes with a data cap you don't see until you hit it. Turn the phone on to check a message and the day is billed. A KnowRoaming plan is a set number of days or a set amount of data at a price you know before you go. Nothing renews, and nothing charges again unless you turn on auto top-up yourself; see Auto top-up: how it works and how to turn it off. If you run low, you top up the same eSIM from the app for the amount you need.

The other difference is control. With a roaming pass, your home line does everything. With KnowRoaming, your home line stays for calls and texts and the eSIM carries data, so you turn roaming off on the home line and know where every megabyte is going; see Turn off data roaming on your home SIM before you fly. Your plan is data only, with no phone number, calls, or SMS. Calls and texts keep using your home number.

Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
