Push notifications delayed or missing

Check first

iPhone: Settings > KnowRoaming > Notifications > Allow Notifications. Android: Settings > Apps > KnowRoaming > Notifications, on. Then in the app: Settings > Notifications, with the master switch and the Purchases and Account groups on. See Which notifications we'll send, and when.

Causes, in order

Alerts are off for the app

The phone-level switch overrides everything in the app. Turn it on, then check the groups in the app.

Background activity is restricted

Low Power Mode, Battery Saver, and Data Saver all delay alerts for every app. Turn them off, or allow the KnowRoaming app as an exception.

The app was closed by the phone

Some Android phones close background apps aggressively. Add KnowRoaming to the phone's "don't optimize" or "auto-launch" list under battery settings.

Data itself is patchy

If every app's alerts are late, the connection is the cause. See Data works, but only sometimes.

Good to know

• Alerts are a convenience, not the only warning. The balance and days left are always on the plan in My plans; see Check your data balance and usage in My plans.
• The data-finished alert and the plan-expiring reminder are the two you most want on. If either was late, check the two settings above first.
