Not reliably. The island's networks are not UK networks. An Isle of Man plan works, and so does the Europe plan, which covers the island, the UK, and Ireland on one plan and switches by itself on the crossing. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
On the island your plan connects to Sure or Manx Telecom, with 5G in the towns and 4G LTE elsewhere. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after you arrive, work through the no-signal checklist.
Yes; the networks are built for the crowd, though speeds dip around the grandstand at race time. The official TT app, the road-closure times, and the live timing all run over the plan's data.
On the Europe plan, at both ends and near either coast; mid-crossing the signal fades on any network. An Isle of Man plan starts working when you connect near the island.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Isle of Man plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Isle of Man eSIM for the TT, the railways, and the ferry from Liverpool
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

The Isle of Man is a Crown dependency in the middle of the Irish Sea, with its own government, its own pound, its own phone networks, and a fortnight in June when the whole island becomes a motorcycle race. The best eSIM for the Isle of Man is one that's ready before the ferry docks at Douglas, because a UK plan may not cover the island and the race-week queues are no place to find out.
Below: how an Isle of Man plan works, how to set it up before you travel, why the Europe plan is the neat answer for a trip that starts in Britain or Ireland, and what to expect around the island, on the coast paths, and during the TT.
Most travel eSIMs make you start over for every country, which in Europe means a new QR code every few days. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, and from then on each trip is a plan you add to it: the Isle of Man now, Ireland in the spring, the whole continent on a Europe plan when the itinerary gets ambitious. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in the Isle of Man, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Isle of Man plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Isle of Man plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
The Steam Packet ferries run from Liverpool and Heysham, three to four hours, and from Dublin and Belfast in season; Ronaldsway airport has flights from London, Manchester, and Dublin. The buses cover the island, the Manx Electric Railway runs up the east coast to Ramsey, the steam railway runs south to Port Erin, and the Snaefell Mountain Railway climbs the island's one mountain; the Go card and the operators' apps carry the tickets.
The Manx pound is pegged to sterling and sterling is accepted everywhere; cards work nearly everywhere. Douglas's promenade, Castletown's castle, Peel's, and the Laxey Wheel are the tour.
The Isle of Man is not part of the UK, and its networks, Sure and Manx Telecom, are not UK networks, so a UK plan or a UK carrier's roaming may not work here. An Isle of Man plan does, and so does the Europe plan, which covers the island, the UK, and Ireland on one plan and switches networks by itself on the ferry and the flight. For a trip that starts in Liverpool or Dublin, the Europe plan is the neat answer; for the island alone, the Isle of Man plan. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
The Isle of Man TT, over the last week of May and the first of June, closes the mountain road for racing, fills every bed on the island a year ahead, and runs its schedule, its road closures, and its live timing through the official app; the Manx Grand Prix in late August does the same on a smaller scale. Both are the weeks when a working phone matters most and the networks work hardest.
The Raad ny Foillan coast path circles the island in about 100 miles, the national glens are short walks with waterfalls, and the Calf of Man, off the southern tip, is a boat from Port Erin or Port St Mary with seals and seabirds. The towns and the roads have 5G or strong 4G; the coast path's remoter stretches and the Calf drop out on every network.
Douglas is a finance center, and many visits are work: a week of meetings, a laptop on the hotspot, video calls from a hotel on the promenade. Sure's and Manx Telecom's 5G handle that without trouble. For a stay of weeks, an unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed, is the right buy; fixed plans suit a race week or a weekend. Both are on the plan selector at the top of this page.
Your plan connects to Sure or Manx Telecom, with 5G in Douglas, Ramsey, Peel, and Castletown and 4G LTE across the rest of the island. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the remoter stretches of the coast path, on the Calf of Man, and on the ferry mid-crossing, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding an Isle of Man plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
For a European trip the real competition isn't another eSIM. It's your home carrier's roaming add-on, priced for a weekend and throttled by midweek; the SIM counter in arrivals, after the flight, with a queue; and café Wi-Fi, in a country where even the bus ticket is in an app. An Isle of Man plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Europe plan waiting if the trip grows.
