Quali viaggiatori quali sono le domande che ci vengono poste più spesso?
No, nor on the Global plan. Trinidad and Tobago are sold as their own plan, covering both islands; add it to the same eSIM as the plan covering the rest of the route. Grenada and Barbados to the north are on the Caribbean plan. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
On both islands your plan connects to Digicel on 4G LTE, which handles maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming; 5G is not part of this plan. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
Yes; the network is built for it, though speeds dip around the Savannah stage and on the road on Tuesday. The fete tickets, the band chats, and the routes all run over the plan's data.
Yes, one plan covers both islands, with 4G in Scarborough and Crown Point and near either coast on the ferry; mid-crossing the signal fades.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Trinidad and Tobago plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Trinidad and Tobago eSIM for Carnival, Port of Spain, and Tobago
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

Trinidad and Tobago are the Caribbean's biggest carnival, a business capital on a gulf, and a quieter island a short flight away, and they are the one two-island nation the Caribbean plan skips, which catches the traveler who arrives on it. The best eSIM for Trinidad and Tobago is a Trinidad and Tobago plan, added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the ride from Piarco is booked and the Carnival costume collected on a phone that works.
Below: how a Trinidad and Tobago plan works, how to set it up before you fly, why the Caribbean and Global plans don't cover the islands, and what to expect in Port of Spain, at Carnival, and on Tobago.
Island trips rarely stay on one island, and most travel eSIMs make you start over at every stop. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: Trinidad and Tobago this time, a regional plan for a later route through the countries it covers, somewhere else entirely next winter. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Trinidad and Tobago, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Trinidad and Tobago plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Trinidad and Tobago plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Piarco International is 30 to 45 minutes from Port of Spain, and the taxis run on fixed rates from the terminal; the maxi-taxis and the buses cover the island for cash, and the air bridge to Tobago is a short flight or a three-hour ferry from the capital. Most passports enter visa-free. The TT dollar is the currency, cards work in the hotels, malls, and restaurants, and cash covers the maxis, the doubles stands, and the beach.
Trinidad and Tobago are not on the Caribbean plan, which covers Grenada and Barbados to the north, and not on the Global plan either; a traveler on either plan loses data at Piarco. A Trinidad and Tobago plan is the one that works for both islands, added to the same eSIM as the plan covering the rest of the route; it takes about a minute in the app. Read crossing into a border country your plan doesn't include for how plans on one eSIM work together.
Carnival, on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, is the reason the flights fill a year ahead: the fetes from January, J'ouvert at dawn, the mas bands on the road, and Panorama's steelpan final, all with tickets, costumes, and routes managed online and in the bands' chats. Digicel's 4G handles the crowd, with speeds dipping at the Savannah stage.
Port of Spain's Savannah, the Magnificent Seven, and the doubles at breakfast, Maracas Bay's bake and shark over the north coast road, and the Asa Wright nature centre's birds are Trinidad; Tobago's Pigeon Point, the Nylon Pool, Castara's fishing village, and the Sunday School party at Buccoo are the smaller island. Both islands have 4G in the towns and on the main roads; the rainforest and the far beaches thin out.
Port of Spain is an energy and finance capital, and a lot of visits are a week of meetings with video calls from a hotel; for a posting of weeks, an unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed, covers the calls and the hotspot. June to November is the wet season, and the islands sit south of most hurricanes.
Your plan connects to Digicel on 4G LTE. There is no 5G on this plan. Coverage is strong in Port of Spain, San Fernando, Chaguanas, Scarborough, and Crown Point and holds along the main roads of both islands. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
In the Northern Range's rainforest, on Tobago's far north-east, and on the boats, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Trinidad and Tobago plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
On an island the alternatives are thin: a home-carrier roaming pass that treats every island as a new country, a local SIM from a shop that closes early, or resort Wi-Fi that stops at the pool. A Trinidad and Tobago plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and the same eSIM, with a plan for wherever the next trip goes.
