15: Algeria, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey, and the UAE. The same list is on the plan card under "Where this eSIM works". Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
No. Lebanon is sold as its own plan and added to the same eSIM for that leg. Syria, Libya, and Yemen are not KnowRoaming destinations.
Yes. Keep data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line, give the phone a minute after landing or crossing, and it joins the local partner network on its own. If it doesn't, airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again forces a fresh search.
In ten of the 15 countries: Algeria, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE. Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia run on 4G LTE. If the phone hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (a daily high-speed allowance, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. The price depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying; every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your MENA plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Not beyond the edges, on any network. The gaps are the deserts and the mountains: Wadi Rum beyond the village, the Sahara beyond the oases, the Empty Quarter, the Atlas above the passes, and the Sinai's trails.
Lebanon is a KnowRoaming destination sold as its own plan and not on this one; Syria, Libya, and Yemen are not KnowRoaming destinations. For a route that also runs south into Africa, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia sit on the Africa plan too, and for a Gulf stopover on the way to Asia, the Global plan covers most of the region and the destination.
MENA eSIM for the Gulf, the Levant, and North Africa: 15 countries, one plan
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

A Middle East and North Africa (MENA) eSIM that follows the layovers and the borders is the point of this plan, and a MENA eSIM is what most travelers to the region end up needing. The trip that lands in Dubai, continues to Petra and Jerusalem, and ends in Cairo or Marrakech used to mean a SIM counter at every arrival and a registration form at every one. The MENA plan puts 15 countries on one eSIM, from the Gulf through the Levant to Turkey and North Africa, with the phone switching networks by itself each time you land or cross. Add it at home, on Wi-Fi, and it's live the moment you arrive in the first of them.
Below: how the MENA eSIM plan works, how to set it up before you fly, exactly which countries it covers and which it doesn't, the one thing to know about calling apps in the Gulf, and what to expect from coverage in the cities and the deserts.
Travel across the Middle East and North Africa tends to run through a hub, and most eSIMs want a fresh profile for every leg. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per leg: the Middle East and North Africa plan for the stay, the Gulf for the layover, a Middle East and North Africa plan when one trip covers several countries. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in any country on the plan, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you a daily high-speed allowance, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM. Hotspot works on every plan, fixed or unlimited; a laptop or a travel partner's phone shares the same eSIM data.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your MENA plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your MENA plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap is in how to add your plan, start to finish, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
The Gulf: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Levant and the north: Iraq, Israel, Jordan, and Turkey.
North Africa and the Caucasus: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Armenia.
That's 15 countries on one plan with one data balance. The full list is also on the plan card above, under "Where this eSIM works"; check it against your route before you buy.
Read crossing into a border country your plan doesn't include before a route that crosses into a country the plan doesn't include.
Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Istanbul are the hubs, and a MENA eSIM that starts counting when you connect suits a layover as well as a stay: switch it on in the terminal, off again on the next flight. The land borders that most travelers cross, Aqaba and Allenby between Jordan and Israel, Taba into Egypt, and the Turkish frontier, switch networks by themselves; keep data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line the whole trip, since that is the one setting the app can't change for you, and give the phone a minute after each arrival.
Several Gulf states restrict voice and video calls over apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime, the UAE and Qatar most consistently, and the rules change; messaging works, calls may not, and a data plan can't change that. Test the app you rely on when you land, keep an alternative installed, and know that your home number keeps working on your home SIM for anyone who needs to reach you by phone.
In every country the MENA eSIM connects to a local partner network, with 5G in ten of the 15 (Algeria, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE) and 4G LTE in Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
The gaps are the deserts and the mountains on any network: Wadi Rum beyond the village, the Sahara beyond the oases, the Empty Quarter, the Atlas above the passes, and the Sinai's trails. Each destination page says what to expect where; the habit that covers all of them is downloading maps and bookings before the leg that leaves the cities.
Ramadan shifts the region's day toward the evening, with restaurants closed by day outside the hotels and offices on short hours; the Gulf summer, from June to September, keeps everyone indoors between noon and dusk, and a phone left on a dashboard shuts itself down. October to April is the season the whole region was made for, and Hajj and the Eid holidays fill the flights and the hotels around them.
Most current iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, the same check shows you where to look.
Keep your home number too
Adding a MENA plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
One plan. No roaming surprises. Live the moment you land.
In this region the alternatives are a home-carrier roaming rate that is often eye-watering or not offered at all, a local SIM that means ID registration at a counter, or hotel Wi-Fi. A MENA plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Middle East and North Africa plan if the trip takes in more than one country.
Real travelers rate KnowRoaming 4.5 out of 5 on Reviews.io. More than a decade in travel connectivity, more than 200 destinations, and support that doesn't clock off: WhatsApp and live chat, any time, any day.

The roaming went really well in the begining but towards the end the data started depleting very fast even though I was not using it too much
