Family and group plans: What's actually shared

Nothing is shared except the account and the card. Each traveler's device gets its own eSIM and its own plan, so one person's streaming never uses someone else's data. You buy for everyone in one place and see every plan under My plans. Nobody else needs an account.

More detail

To buy for a group, choose the destination and plan as usual. When the app asks which device it's for, tap Add another device and plan and name the traveler's device. Their name works well, such as "Sam's iPhone." Complete the purchase, then set the plan up on their phone. Sign in to your account on their phone and add it through the app, or hand them the QR code and details from the order page. Repeat for each traveler. With a saved card, each checkout takes seconds.

Every plan then shows as its own line under My plans, on its own device, with its own status and balance. You can see who's running low and top them up yourself; see Top up your plan: add data or days without a new eSIM. Each purchase has its own order and invoice, which keeps the group's costs easy to add up. Kreds earned on every purchase land in your wallet. When someone's done traveling for good, archive their device; see Add, rename, or archive a device.

If you'd rather share one plan, tethering works. Your phone becomes a Wi-Fi hotspot for a laptop or a child's tablet. It uses more data and battery, and speed is shared across everything connected; see Hotspot and tethering on your KnowRoaming plan. Your plan starts when you connect in a supported country, not when you buy. Your validity days count from that first connection. Unused data expires at the end of your validity period. It doesn't roll over.
