What travelers ask us most?
Yes. The Caribbean plan covers Saint Lucia and 24 other islands and destinations, including Martinique, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados, and your phone switches networks by itself as you move between them. Saint Lucia is not on the Global plan. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Saint Lucia your plan connects to Flow on 4G LTE, which handles maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming; 5G is not part of this plan. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
At the trailhead and the interpretive center, yes. On the climb, not reliably, on any network. Book the guide by message the evening before and download the route.
On the Caribbean plan, yes at both ends, switching by itself at the port; at sea the signal fades. A Saint Lucia-only plan stops as you leave Castries.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Saint Lucia plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Saint Lucia eSIM for the Pitons, Rodney Bay, and the drive between them
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Saint Lucia is a resort north, a volcano south, and an hour and a half of winding road between them, and the transfer desk at Hewanorra is the place to have a phone that already works. The best eSIM for Saint Lucia is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the transfer to Rodney Bay is confirmed and the Pitons boat is booked before the bags come round.
Below: how a Saint Lucia plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in the north, the south, and on the water, and which plan fits when Martinique or Saint Vincent is on the same trip.
Island trips rarely stay on one island, and most travel eSIMs make you start over at every stop. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: Saint Lucia this time, the whole Caribbean plan when you're hopping between islands, somewhere else entirely next winter. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Saint Lucia, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Saint Lucia plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Saint Lucia plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Hewanorra International is at the island's southern tip, an hour and a half from Rodney Bay and about half an hour from Soufrière; the smaller George F. L. Charles airport at Castries takes the regional flights. Transfers are booked with the hotel or a taxi company by message, the minibuses run the coast roads for cash, and rental cars need a local permit with traffic on the left. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the currency, US dollars are accepted, and cards work at the resorts and the restaurants.
Rodney Bay's marina and Reduit beach, Pigeon Island's fort, and the Friday-night street party at Gros Islet are the north; Castries's market and the cruise port are the middle.
Marigot Bay, the yacht anchorage halfway down the west coast, and Anse La Raye's Friday fish fry are the stops between the north and Soufrière; the coast road's hairpins take the full hour and a half whatever the map says.
The Pitons, the two volcanic spires above Soufrière, are the island's picture, climbed with a guide up Gros Piton or seen from the boats and the Sugar Beach sand between them; the drive-in volcano's sulphur springs, the mud baths, and the Diamond botanical gardens are the town's other days. Flow's 4G covers Soufrière and the coast road; the Gros Piton trail and the rainforest drop out on every network.
The catamaran days from Rodney Bay to Soufrière, the snorkeling at Anse Chastanet, and the whale-watching from Castries lose signal a mile out; the Tet Paul nature trail and the rainforest zip lines are booked by message and have signal at the entrance. The east coast's Atlantic beaches and the Latille falls are the quiet side.
Saint Lucia is on the Caribbean plan, 25 islands and destinations on one plan that also covers Martinique, an hour's ferry north, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a short flight south; the phone switches networks by itself when you land. Saint Lucia is not on the Global plan, so a traveler carrying the Global plan needs a Saint Lucia plan or the Caribbean plan here. A Saint Lucia-only plan stops at the coast. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
The Saint Lucia Jazz festival in May, Carnival in July, and the Creole heritage month in October are the calendar's high points; December to April is the busy season, when the resorts and the Pitons boats book out, and June to November is hurricane season, when the airlines and hotels post changes to their apps first.
Your plan connects to Flow on 4G LTE. There is no 5G on this plan. Coverage is strong in Rodney Bay, Castries, Soufrière, Vieux Fort, and along the coast roads. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the Gros Piton trail, in the rainforest interior, and on the boats, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Saint Lucia plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
On an island the alternatives are thin: a home-carrier roaming pass that treats every island as a new country, a local SIM from a shop that closes early, or resort Wi-Fi that stops at the pool. A Saint Lucia plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Caribbean plan if the trip takes in more than one island.
