Not reliably. Jersey's networks are not UK networks. A Jersey plan works, and so does the Europe plan, which covers Jersey, the UK, and France on one plan and switches by itself on the crossing. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
No. Guernsey is a separate destination on the Global plan only. For a day trip from Jersey, add a Guernsey plan to the same eSIM before you sail; it starts counting when you connect there.
In Jersey your plan connects to JT or Sure, with 5G in St Helier and 4G LTE around the island. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after you arrive, work through the no-signal checklist.
On the Europe plan, at both ends and near either coast; mid-crossing the signal fades on any network. A Jersey plan starts working when you connect near the island.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Jersey plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Jersey eSIM for St Helier, the beaches, and the ferry to France
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Jersey is a Crown dependency 20 km from France with its own pound, its own phone networks, and a beach for every tide, and a UK plan may not follow you onto it. The best eSIM for Jersey is one that's ready before the ferry docks at St Helier or the plane lands at the airport, so the hire car and the first crab sandwich are sorted while the tide is still out.
Below: how a Jersey plan works, how to set it up before you travel, why the Europe plan is the neat answer for a trip that starts in Britain or France, and what to expect around the island and on the hop to Guernsey.
Most travel eSIMs make you start over for every country, which in Europe means a new QR code every few days. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, and from then on each trip is a plan you add to it: Jersey now, France in the spring, the whole continent on a Europe plan when the itinerary gets ambitious. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Jersey, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Jersey plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Jersey plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Ferries run from Poole and Portsmouth and, in under two hours, from St Malo; flights arrive from London, the UK regions, and Paris. The LibertyBus network covers the island from St Helier's Liberation Station with tickets in the app, and hire cars are the way to the far bays; the island is nine miles by five and speed limits are low.
The Jersey pound is pegged to sterling and sterling is accepted everywhere; cards work nearly everywhere, and euros are taken in some shops at a poor rate. St Helier's central market, the Maritime Museum, and Elizabeth Castle at low tide are the town.
St Ouen's Bay for surf, St Brelade's for swimming, Plémont and Grève de Lecq on the north coast, and the tidal walk out to Seymour Tower with a guide: Jersey's tides are among the largest in the world, and the tide-table app is the one to keep open. Coverage is 5G in St Helier and 4G around the whole coast, with the cliff paths and the sea walks the only thin spots.
Jersey is not part of the UK, and JT and Sure are not UK networks, so a UK plan or a UK carrier's roaming may not work here. A Jersey plan does, and so does the Europe plan, which covers Jersey, the UK, and France on one plan and switches networks by itself on the ferry and the flight; for a trip that starts in Poole or St Malo, the Europe plan is the neat answer. Guernsey, the other big Channel Island, is different again: it is a separate KnowRoaming destination that is not on the Europe plan, only on the Global plan. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
Guernsey is an hour by fast ferry or a short flight, and Sark and Herm are boats from there; all three have their own networks and their own plans, and the Europe plan does not reach them. For a day trip to Guernsey, add a Guernsey plan to the same eSIM before you sail; it starts counting only when you connect there. On the boats the signal fades mid-crossing on any network.
St Helier is a finance center, and many visits are a week of meetings with a laptop on the hotspot; JT's and Sure's 5G handle that. The Battle of Flowers in August, the Liberation Day celebrations on 9 May, and the summer weekends fill the ferries and the hotels; the island is at its quietest and cheapest from October to March.
Your plan connects to JT or Sure, with 5G in St Helier and the main parishes and 4G LTE around the coast and across the interior. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the north coast cliff paths, the tidal walks, and the inter-island boats, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Jersey plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
For a European trip the real competition isn't another eSIM. It's your home carrier's roaming add-on, priced for a weekend and throttled by midweek; the SIM counter in arrivals, after the flight, with a queue; and café Wi-Fi, in a country where even the bus ticket is in an app. A Jersey plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Europe plan waiting if the trip grows.
