Yes. The Africa plan covers the Seychelles and 30 other countries, including Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, and Kenya, and your phone switches networks by itself when you land. The Seychelles are not on the Global plan. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In the Seychelles your plan connects to Cable & Wireless, with 5G on Mahé and Praslin and 4G LTE on La Digue. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
Yes, with 4G across La Digue and signal on the ferries near either island. The boats to the outer islands and the snorkeling trips fade a mile out; book them in town.
On the three main islands, yes: hotspot is allowed on every plan, and a laptop at the villa runs on the plan when the resort's connection drops. The outer islands' resorts run on satellite links, and the plan doesn't reach them.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Seychelles plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Seychelles eSIM for Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, and the ferries between
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

The Seychelles are three islands most visitors move between by ferry and a hundred more they don't, with resort Wi-Fi that stops at the pool and a bicycle as the main vehicle on the third, and Mahé's arrivals hall is the place to have a phone that already works. The best eSIM for the Seychelles is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the ferry to Praslin is booked and the La Digue guesthouse messaged before the transfer desk.
Below: how a Seychelles plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect on each of the three islands and on the water, and which plan fits when the trip continues to Mauritius or the mainland.
African itineraries change, and most travel eSIMs make you start over every time they do. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: one country when you're staying put, the Africa plan when the route crosses borders, and whatever comes next after that. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Seychelles, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Seychelles plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Seychelles plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Mahé's airport is about 15 minutes from Victoria and 30 from the Beau Vallon resorts; taxis are arranged through the hotels, the buses cover the island cheaply, and rental cars are the way to the beaches, with traffic on the left. Most passports enter visa-free with the travel authorization completed online before the flight; keep it saved offline. The rupee is the currency, cards work at the hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets, and cash covers the buses and the takeaways.
Victoria's market and clock tower, the Morne Seychellois trails, and the beaches at Anse Intendance and Beau Vallon are Mahé's days.
Mahé's Sainte Anne marine park, the Jardin du Roi spice garden, and the tea plantation on the Sans Souci road fill the days between beaches; the island's buses take exact change and its taxis take cards, and both are arranged through the hotel.
The Cat Cocos ferry from Mahé to Praslin takes an hour and the Cat Rose on to La Digue about 15 minutes, both booked online and full in the high season; Praslin is the Vallée de Mai's coco de mer palms and Anse Lazio, La Digue is the bicycles, the ox carts, and Anse Source d'Argent's granite boulders. Cable & Wireless's 5G covers Mahé and Praslin's towns, 4G La Digue and the beaches, and the ferries keep signal near either island.
The snorkeling at Sainte Anne, the boat trips to Curieuse and Cousin, and the fly-in resorts on Denis, Silhouette, and the far Aldabra are the outer islands; the boats fade a mile out, and the outer islands' resorts run on satellite links with metered Wi-Fi. Book the boats in town while you have data.
The Seychelles are on the Africa plan, 31 countries on one plan that also covers Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, and Kenya, the usual island and mainland combinations by air, with the phone switching networks by itself when you land. They are not on the Global plan, so a traveler carrying the Global plan needs a Seychelles plan or the Africa plan here. A Seychelles-only plan stops at the coast. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
The islands sit outside the cyclone belt, and the two trade-wind seasons decide the beaches: the south-east winds from May to October bring seaweed to some coasts and calm to others, and the north-west from November to April the reverse; the ferries and the boats post changes to their apps first. The Creole festival in October and the Carnival in April are the calendar's high points, and the resorts book out over Christmas and Easter.
Your plan connects to Cable & Wireless Seychelles, with 5G in Victoria, Beau Vallon, and Praslin's towns and 4G LTE across the rest of the three islands. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the boats, the outer islands, and the Morne Seychellois trails, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Seychelles plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
For Africa the alternatives are a home-carrier roaming rate that is often not offered at all, a local SIM in each country with registration paperwork at each border, or lodge Wi-Fi that works in the bar and nowhere else. A Seychelles plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and one plan across every border on the route.
