Yes. The Caribbean plan covers Curaçao and 24 other islands and destinations, including Aruba, and your phone switches networks by itself as you move between them. Curaçao is not on the Global plan. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Curaçao your plan connects to Flow on 4G LTE, which handles maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming; 5G is not part of this plan. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
At the shore dives along the west coast, yes. On the boat to Klein Curaçao and on the island itself, no, on any network. Download what you need before you leave the pier.
Yes. The plan starts counting when you switch it on and connect as you come ashore in Willemstad, so a one-day plan covers a port day. It won't work at sea; turn it off again when you sail.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Curaçao plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Curaçao eSIM for Willemstad, the diving, and the hop to Aruba
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Curaçao is Willemstad's painted waterfront, forty dive sites reached by rental car, and a boat to an uninhabited island, and the phone books all three. The best eSIM for Curaçao is the one that's working when you walk out of Hato airport, so the car pickup and the dive shop's confirmation are done before the heat sets in.
Below: how a Curaçao plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in Willemstad, on the west coast, and on the water, and which plan fits when Aruba is on the same trip.
Island trips rarely stay on one island, and most travel eSIMs make you start over at every stop. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: Curaçao this time, the whole Caribbean plan when you're hopping between islands, somewhere else entirely next winter. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Curaçao, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Curaçao plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Curaçao plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Hato airport is about half an hour from Willemstad. Taxis run on fixed fares, most visitors rent a car, and the bus network covers the main routes for cash. Willemstad's Punda and Otrobanda districts face each other across the harbor, joined by the swinging Queen Emma pontoon bridge and a free ferry when it swings open.
The Antillean guilder is the currency and US dollars are accepted everywhere; cards work in nearly every shop, restaurant, and dive center. Dutch, Papiamentu, English, and Spanish are all spoken, and the apps run in English.
The beaches are on the west coast, from Cas Abao and Playa Kenepa in the north to the Blue Bay and Jan Thiel resort areas nearer town; most are shore dives as well, which is why divers rent a car and a tank rack rather than book boats. Klein Curaçao, the uninhabited island to the south-east, is the day trip by catamaran, and once the boat leaves the signal goes with the shore.
Flow's 4G covers the whole island including the west coast beaches; the Christoffel park's hiking trails and the north coast's cliffs are the thin spots, on any network.
Curaçao is on the Caribbean plan, 25 islands and destinations on one plan that also covers Aruba, a short flight away; the phone switches networks by itself when you land. Bonaire is not a KnowRoaming destination, so plan that leg without data. Curaçao is not on the Global plan, so a traveler carrying the Global plan needs a Curaçao plan or the Caribbean plan for this island. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
The Aruba hop is a short flight from Hato, several times a day, and the Caribbean plan covers both islands without any change in the app; the Curaçao plan alone stops at takeoff.
Willemstad's cruise terminal sits by the pontoon bridge, and a port day works on a one-day plan that starts counting as you come ashore. Curaçao's Carnival runs through January and February with the Grand Parade in Otrobanda, and the island sits outside the hurricane belt, which keeps the calendar full year-round.
Willemstad's Pietermaai and Scharloo districts, with their restored mansions and street art, are the evening; the floating market from Venezuela on the Punda waterfront is the morning. All of it is walkable, and the ferry across the harbor runs when the bridge is open.
Curaçao runs a remote-work residence program for stays of six months and up, and the combination of reliable power, Dutch-style infrastructure, and 4G across the island makes it one of the easier Caribbean bases for a laptop. For a stay of weeks or months, an unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed, covers video calls and the hotspot for the days the apartment's Wi-Fi drops.
Your plan connects to Flow, the network formerly known as UTS, on 4G LTE. There is no 5G on this plan. Coverage holds across the island from Hato to the west coast beaches. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the boats to Klein Curaçao, in the Christoffel park, and along the north coast cliffs, expect the signal to thin. Save what you need before you set off.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Curaçao plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
On an island the alternatives are thin: a home-carrier roaming pass that treats every island as a new country, a local SIM from a shop that closes early, or resort Wi-Fi that stops at the pool. A Curaçao plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Caribbean plan if the trip takes in more than one island.
