Yes. The Europe plan covers Serbia and 48 other countries, including Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, and Bulgaria, and your phone switches networks by itself at the border. It does not cover Montenegro, which has its own plan, or Kosovo, which is on the Global plan only. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Serbia your plan connects to Yettel, with 5G in the cities and 4G LTE elsewhere. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
Up to the border, on a Serbia plan or the Europe plan. Montenegro is on neither; add a Montenegro plan to the same eSIM before you cross.
In the towns and at the viewpoints' car parks, yes, on 4G. In the canyons and on the park's trails, not reliably, on any network. Download the route before you set off.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Serbia plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Serbia eSIM for Belgrade, Novi Sad, the monasteries, and the Balkan road
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Belgrade is a nightlife capital on two rivers, a ride app from the airport, and a country around it of monasteries, mountain trains, and a festival that fills a fortress, and Nikola Tesla airport is the place to have a phone that already works. The best eSIM for Serbia is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the ride into Dorćol is booked and the splav table reserved before the bags come round.
Below: how a Serbia plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and the south, and why a Balkan loop wants the Europe plan, with one exception.
Most travel eSIMs make you start over for every country, which in Europe means a new QR code every few days. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, and from then on each trip is a plan you add to it: Serbia now, Hungary in the spring, the whole continent on a Europe plan when the itinerary gets ambitious. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Serbia, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Serbia plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Serbia plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Nikola Tesla airport is about half an hour from the center by the A1 bus or a Yandex Go or CarGo ride, both working with the number you already have; the city's trams and buses are free at the time of writing. Serbia keeps the dinar, so prices are in dinars; cards are accepted widely in the cities, and cash helps in the villages and at the monasteries.
The Kalemegdan fortress, Skadarlija's taverns, the Nikola Tesla museum, and the splavovi, the river-barge clubs, are Belgrade's days and nights; Zemun's waterfront is the quieter afternoon.
Novi Sad, an hour north by the new fast train, is the Petrovaradin fortress, the EXIT festival in July that fills it, and the Fruška Gora's monasteries and wineries; Subotica's art nouveau is the far north near the Hungarian border. Yettel's 5G covers both cities and the train between; the vineyard roads thin out.
Studenica and Žiča, the medieval monasteries, the Šargan Eight narrow-gauge railway and Kusturica's timber village at Mokra Gora, the Tara national park's Drina views, and the Uvac canyon's meanders are the south-west, a long day by car; Niš and the Devil's Town rock formations are the south-east. The towns have 4G; the canyons, the park, and the monastery valleys drop out on every network.
Kopaonik's ski resort and Zlatibor's mountain town are the winter and the summer for Belgrade's own visitors, three to four hours south by car, with 4G at the resorts and gaps on the slopes; the Danube's Iron Gates gorge and Golubac fortress are the east's drive.
Serbia touches eight countries, and Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Albania are all on the Europe plan, 49 countries on one plan that switches networks by itself at the border; Montenegro is the exception, sold as its own plan and not on the Europe plan, and Kosovo is on the Global plan only. A Serbia-only plan stops at the border. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
Belgrade has become a long-stay city for tech workers and remote workers, with fast 5G, low costs, and a café culture that runs all day; for a stay of weeks, an unlimited plan, with 5 GB a day at full speed, covers calls and the hotspot, and fixed plans suit a weekend. Both are on the plan selector at the top of this page.
Your plan connects to Yettel, with 5G in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac and 4G LTE across the towns and the main roads. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
In the Uvac and Drina canyons, the Tara and Kopaonik mountains, and the monastery valleys, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Serbia plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
For a European trip the real competition isn't another eSIM. It's your home carrier's roaming add-on, priced for a weekend and throttled by midweek; the SIM counter in arrivals, after the flight, with a queue; and café Wi-Fi, in a country where even the bus ticket is in an app. A Serbia plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Europe plan waiting if the trip grows.
