One app, total control.
Manage your plans, your data and your eSIM from your phone, wherever you land.
What travelers ask us most?
A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (a daily high-speed allowance, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. The price depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying; every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
Yes to both. The Europe plan covers Denmark and 48 other countries, including Sweden and Germany, and your phone switches networks by itself when the train crosses the Øresund bridge. A Denmark-only plan stops at the border, so choose the Europe plan if Malmö, Bornholm via Ystad, or a drive into Germany is on the cards. Already in Denmark on a Denmark plan? Add a Sweden plan to the same eSIM before you go. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
No. Each is its own KnowRoaming destination with its own plan, and neither is on the Europe plan. Add the one you need to the same eSIM before you fly on from Copenhagen.
In Denmark your plan connects to TDC, 3 (Hi3G), or Telia, with 5G in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, and Aalborg and 4G LTE everywhere else. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Denmark plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect in Denmark, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase, so hold off on buying for next summer. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
No. KR.One covers every trip. Open the app, add a Denmark plan, and it goes onto the eSIM already on your phone, with nothing to scan and nothing to set up again.
Very little. Denmark is compact, flat, and densely covered, and coverage holds almost everywhere you're likely to go. The one gap to plan for is out at sea, on the Bornholm ferry, so download the maps you need before you sail.
Denmark eSIM for Copenhagen, the islands, and day trips to Sweden
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Copenhagen runs on bike lanes, transit apps, and card-only payments, and the best eSIM for Denmark is the one that is working before you reach the metro platform. Add a Denmark plan at home, on Wi-Fi, and your phone connects the moment you land at Copenhagen Airport. No kiosk, no QR code at the gate, no roaming bill waiting at home.
Below: how a Denmark plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect at the airport and around the country, and what happens when a day trip takes you into Sweden.
Most travel eSIMs make you start over for every country, which in Europe means a new QR code every few days. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, and from then on each trip is a plan you add to it: Denmark now, Italy in the spring, the whole continent on a Europe plan when the itinerary gets ambitious. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Denmark, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you a daily high-speed allowance, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM. Hotspot works on every plan, fixed or unlimited; a laptop or a travel partner's phone shares the same eSIM data.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Denmark plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Denmark plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find a network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap is in how to add your plan, start to finish, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Your plan connects on the walk from the gate. Copenhagen Airport sits on the metro, and the ride to the city center takes about 15 minutes, so the first thing you'll want is a ticket. Buy it in the DOT app, or tap in with a Rejsekort. Both need data, which is why the plan pays for itself before you leave the terminal.
Denmark is close to cashless. The local MobilePay app needs a Danish bank account, so a contactless card or your phone's wallet is what you'll use, even at market stalls and hot dog stands. In Copenhagen, bike rental, the harbor buses to Christianshavn, and most museum tickets run through apps too.
Beyond the capital, trains cross the Great Belt bridge to Odense and on to Aarhus and Aalborg, and the DOT app or Rejsekort covers regional buses and trains. Flying into Billund for Legoland or Aarhus for Jutland? The plan covers all of mainland Denmark and its islands, so nothing changes.
A lot of Denmark trips cross a border without anyone noticing. The train over the Øresund bridge to Malmö takes about 45 minutes. The quickest route to Bornholm is the ferry from Ystad, on the Swedish side. Driving south takes you into Germany.
If your trip includes any of those, choose the Europe plan instead of a Denmark-only plan. It covers Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and the rest of its 49 countries on one plan, and your phone switches networks by itself at the border. A Denmark-only plan stops working the moment you leave Denmark, so check the Europe plan's country list against your route before you buy, or read do I need a new plan for every country?
Greenland and the Faroe Islands are different. Both are part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but each is its own KnowRoaming destination with its own plan, and neither is on the Europe plan. Flying on to Nuuk or Tórshavn? Add that plan to the same eSIM before you board.
Aarhus is Denmark's second city and the easiest add-on to a Copenhagen trip: three hours by train across the Great Belt, then ARoS with its rooftop rainbow walkway, Den Gamle By's open-air streets, and a harbor front built for wandering. Odense sits halfway, and the Hans Christian Andersen museum there books its slots online. Coverage in both cities is what you get in Copenhagen: 5G, and nothing to think about.
The west coast is where the phone starts to earn its keep in a different way. Skagen, at the northern tip where the two seas meet, is a long day from anywhere and worth the drive. The Wadden Sea National Park, in the far south-west, is tidal flats, seal-spotting boats, and guided walks timed to the tide; the ferry to Fanø from Esbjerg takes about 15 minutes. Expect 4G LTE rather than 5G out here, download the tide tables and your booking confirmations before you leave the car, and on the flats keep your eyes on the guide rather than the screen.
Denmark is small enough to cross in a day and set up for doing it without a car. DSB trains link Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg; the DSB app sells the tickets and shows the platform changes, so keep the plan on for the journey. Ferries fill the gaps the bridges don't: Samsø, Ærø, and the crossings out to Bornholm and over to Sweden. Signal fades a few kilometers out, so download what you need before you board.
Then there are the bikes. Copenhagen's rental bikes unlock through an app, and the national cycle routes run past most of what visitors come for, from the Møn cliffs to the west coast. Navigation on a bike drains a battery faster than you expect, so a power bank and offline maps are the two things worth carrying.
Denmark is compact, flat, and densely covered. Your plan connects to TDC, 3 (Hi3G), and Telia, with 5G in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, and Aalborg and 4G LTE across the rest of the country, including the bridges and trains between the islands. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
Coverage holds almost everywhere you're likely to go. The one gap to plan for is out at sea, on the Bornholm ferry, so download the maps you need before you sail.
Most current iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, the same check shows you where to look.
Keep your home number too
Adding a Denmark plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
One plan. No roaming surprises. Live the moment you land.
For a European trip the real competition isn't another eSIM. It's your home carrier's roaming add-on, priced for a weekend and throttled by midweek; the SIM counter in arrivals, after the flight, with a queue; and café Wi-Fi, in a country where even the bus ticket is in an app. A Denmark plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Europe plan waiting if the trip grows.
