Yes. The Caribbean plan covers the Bahamas and 24 other islands and destinations, including the Turks and Caicos Islands, and your phone switches networks by itself as you move between them. It does not cover the USA. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In the Bahamas your plan connects to BTC on 4G LTE, which handles maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming; 5G is not part of this plan. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
In the main towns, yes: Georgetown, Marsh Harbour, Governor's Harbour, and the other settlements have 4G. On the cays, the empty beaches, and the boats, no, on any network. Download maps and your operator's number before you fly out of Nassau.
Yes. The plan starts counting when you switch it on and connect as you disembark in Nassau, Freeport, or Bimini, so a one-day plan covers a port day. It won't work at sea; turn it off again when you sail.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Bahamas plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?
Bahamas eSIM for Nassau, the Out Islands, and cruise days
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.

The Bahamas is 700 islands, of which you'll see two or three, each reached by a flight or a boat you'll book on your phone. The best eSIM for the Bahamas is the one that's working when you land at Lynden Pindling in Nassau, so the taxi, the ferry to Paradise Island, and tomorrow's Exuma trip are sorted before the bags come round.
Below: how a Bahamas plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in Nassau and on the Out Islands, and which plan fits when Turks and Caicos or Florida is on the same trip.
Island trips rarely stay on one island, and most travel eSIMs make you start over at every stop. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per trip: the Bahamas this time, the whole Caribbean plan when you're hopping between islands, somewhere else entirely next winter. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in the Bahamas, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Bahamas plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Bahamas plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Lynden Pindling International is on the west of New Providence, about half an hour from downtown Nassau and the bridge to Paradise Island. Taxis run on fixed rates by zone; there is no ride-hailing app of note, so the taxi stand and the hotel's driver list are how you move. Jitneys, the local minibuses, cover the island for cash.
The Bahamian dollar is pegged one to one with the US dollar and both circulate side by side; cards work in Nassau, Paradise Island, and the resorts, and cash takes over on the Out Islands. Atlantis, the straw market, and the fish fry at Arawak Cay are the first day; the rest is water.
Nassau's own calendar peaks at Junkanoo, the street parade held in the small hours of Boxing Day and New Year's Day, with grandstand tickets sold online and the route published days ahead. Baha Mar and Atlantis run their own event schedules, and the Queen's Staircase and the forts are the walkable history. On any of those days, the plan is what keeps the taxi and the table booked.
Exuma's swimming pigs and the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, Eleuthera's pink sand and the ferry across to Harbour Island, Abaco's sailing towns, and Andros's blue holes are all a short Bahamasair flight or a fast ferry from Nassau. Flights and ferries book online and change with the weather; keep the confirmations on the phone.
Coverage follows the settlements. Georgetown on Exuma, Marsh Harbour on Abaco, and the main towns on Eleuthera have 4G; the cays, the beaches between them, and the boats do not. Download maps and your boat operator's number before you leave Nassau.
Nassau is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and a port day works on a one-day plan: it starts counting when you switch it on and connect as you disembark, and it won't work at sea. Bimini and Grand Bahama take cruise calls too, and the same rule applies. Florida is about 45 minutes away by air but a different country: the Bahamas plan stops at the coast, and Miami or Orlando needs a USA plan or the North America plan, added to the same eSIM.
The Bahamas is on the Caribbean plan, 25 islands and destinations on one plan, alongside the Turks and Caicos Islands to the south-east and the rest of the region; the phone switches networks by itself when you land. A Bahamas-only plan stops at the archipelago's edge. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
June to November is hurricane season, with the real risk from August to October. Airlines, ferries, and hotels post changes to their apps and channels first, which is the practical reason to keep the plan on even on a beach day. The winter months are the busy ones, when the Out Island lodges and the Exuma boat trips need booking well ahead.
Your plan connects to BTC on 4G LTE. There is no 5G on this plan. Coverage is strong on New Providence and Grand Bahama and around the main towns of the Out Islands. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
On the smaller cays, the beaches between settlements, and every boat, the signal goes. Save what you need before you leave the dock.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Bahamas plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
On an island the alternatives are thin: a home-carrier roaming pass that treats every island as a new country, a local SIM from a shop that closes early, or resort Wi-Fi that stops at the pool. A Bahamas plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Caribbean plan if the trip takes in more than one island.
