All three. The Middle East and North Africa plan also covers Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf; the Africa plan covers Tunisia, Senegal, and the rest of the continent; the Global plan covers 133 countries including Spain. Pick the one that matches the rest of the route. Details in does a region plan cover every country in it?
In Morocco your plan connects to Orange on 4G LTE, which handles maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming; 5G is not part of this plan. Your phone joins the network automatically once the plan is switched on. If it hasn't connected a minute after landing, work through the no-signal checklist.
In Merzouga and Zagora, yes, on 4G. In the dunes and at the camps, not reliably, on any network. Confirm the pickup by message from the village and download the route back.
A Morocco plan stops as you leave Tangier. Spain is on the Europe plan and the Global plan but not on the MENA or Africa plans, so a Spain and Morocco trip runs on the Global plan or on two plans added to the same eSIM.
It depends on how much data you want and how many days you're staying. A fixed plan costs less overall; an unlimited plan (5 GB a day at full speed, then slower) works out to a lower daily rate the longer you stay. Every current option and price is in the plan selector at the top of this page.
In the app: open My plans, choose your Morocco plan, and tap Top up. The extra data lands on the same eSIM within a few seconds, with nothing new to add or scan. Full steps are in topping up data without reinstalling the eSIM.
Weeks ahead. The plan's days don't start until you turn it on and connect, so a plan bought a month before departure is still complete when you land. Plans need to be activated within 90 days of purchase. See what plan validity means and when it starts.
If it's eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked, yes, which covers most phones sold since 2019. The one-minute check for iPhone, Android, and Samsung is in is my phone eSIM compatible?

Morocco eSIM for Marrakech, Fes, the Atlas, and the Sahara
Set it up before you fly. It's live the moment you land, nothing to check, nothing to remember.
Already with us? Get the app on the App Store or Google Play.
Morocco is a medina where the riad sends a boy to find you, a high-speed train, and a desert where the camel driver's number is the only thing that will get you back, and the arrivals hall at Marrakech is the place to have a phone that already works. The best eSIM for Morocco is the one added at home, on Wi-Fi, so the riad's pin is loaded and the petit taxi negotiated before the SIM sellers reach you.
Below: how a Morocco plan works, how to set it up before you fly, what to expect in the imperial cities, the Atlas, the coast, and the Sahara, and which of three multi-country plans fits a trip that continues to Spain, Egypt, or across Africa.
Travel across the Middle East and North Africa tends to run through a hub, and most eSIMs want a fresh profile for every leg. KnowRoaming doesn't. You add the KnowRoaming eSIM, called KR.One, to your phone once, then add a plan per leg: Morocco for the stay, the Gulf for the layover, a Middle East and North Africa plan when one trip covers several countries. Nothing to scan again, nothing to delete when you get home.
The plan's days start when you turn it on and connect in Morocco, not at checkout. Buy it weeks ahead, add it at home, and a delayed flight costs you nothing. The full rule is in what plan validity means and when it starts.
Choose a fixed plan for a set amount of data at the lowest overall price, or an unlimited plan when you'd rather not count. Unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then a slower speed until the allowance resets the next day. If a fixed plan runs low, top up in the app and the extra data lands on the same eSIM.
See it in two minutes: Meet KR.One, iPhone setup with KR.One, or Samsung setup with KR.One.
Do this at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about a minute.
Before you leave
- Get the KnowRoaming app (available on iOS and Android) and choose your Morocco plan.
- Tap Add. First time on this phone? The app adds KR.One and your Morocco plan together. Already have KR.One? Only the plan is added, with nothing to scan.
- Leave data roaming off on the KnowRoaming line until you land, and turn it off on your home line too so it doesn't run up charges in the background. Steps are in turning off roaming on your home line.
When you land
- Turn the plan on in the app, then turn data roaming on for the KnowRoaming line. That setting lives in your phone, so the app can't flip it for you.
- Give the phone a minute to find the network. If nothing happens, turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and off again.
Prefer a QR code? The checkout page and your confirmation email both carry one; scan it from your phone's settings. Every tap, by device, is in adding your eSIM on iPhone, adding your eSIM on Android, and adding your eSIM on Samsung, or watch the iPhone QR walkthrough or the Samsung QR walkthrough. Still no signal after landing? Work through the no-signal checklist.
Marrakech Menara is about 15 minutes from the medina, Casablanca's Mohammed V an hour from the center by train; Careem and inDrive run in the big cities with the number you already have, and the petit taxis take cash and a negotiation. The dirham is the currency, cards work in the hotels, the riads, and the bigger restaurants, and cash covers the souks, the taxis, and everything outside the cities.
The Al Boraq high-speed train links Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca in two hours, and the ONCF app sells every train in the country; the CTM and Supratours buses reach the rest. Jemaa el-Fna, the Bahia palace, and the Majorelle garden are Marrakech's first day; the Hassan II mosque is Casablanca's.
Fes's medina, the largest car-free urban area in the world, is where the riad's pin matters most; Meknès and Volubilis are the day trip, Chefchaouen's blue streets a few hours north, Rabat's kasbah and Tangier's new waterfront the coast. Orange's 4G covers the cities and holds inside the medinas, where the maps still struggle with the alleys.
The High Atlas is two hours from Marrakech, with Imlil the base for Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, a two-day climb with a guide and no signal above the refuge; the Ourika and Ounila valleys and Aït Benhaddou are the day trips. Essaouira's wind and Taghazout's surf are the Atlantic. The Sahara at Merzouga or Zagora is two days' drive over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, a night in a camp among the dunes, and offline from the last village on every network; the camp confirms by WhatsApp from Merzouga.
Morocco sits on three multi-country plans. The Middle East and North Africa plan, 15 countries, also covers Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf; the Africa plan, 31 countries, covers Tunisia, Senegal, and the rest of the continent; and the Global plan covers 133. Spain, an hour's ferry from Tangier, is on the Europe plan and the Global plan but on neither regional plan here, so a Spain and Morocco trip runs on the Global plan or two plans on the same eSIM. The land border with Algeria has been closed for decades. A Morocco-only plan stops at the coast. Read do I need a new plan for every country? for the detail.
Ramadan shifts the day toward the evening, with the medinas quiet by afternoon and alive after dark, and the restaurants outside the hotels closed by day; the Marrakech summer passes 40 degrees Celsius, and the Sahara camps close for it. October to April is the season the whole country was made for, and the Fes sacred music festival in June and the Gnaoua festival in Essaouira the same month are the calendar's high points.
Your plan connects to Orange on 4G LTE. There is no 5G on this plan. Coverage is strong in Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Tangier, and Agadir, holds along the train lines and the main roads, and reaches Imlil, Merzouga, and the valley towns. Your phone picks the network automatically once the plan is on; there is nothing to choose by hand.
Above the Toubkal refuge, in the dunes beyond Merzouga, over the Atlas passes, and along the Anti-Atlas roads, expect gaps on any network. Save what you need in town.
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later and most Android flagships from the same window. Check yours before you add a plan; it takes a few seconds. On iPhone, go to Settings, General, About and look for an EID or Available SIM. On Android, go to Settings, Network & Internet, SIMs and look for an option to add an eSIM. On Samsung, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you're not sure, carrier-locked vs unlocked: how to tell shows you where to look.
Adding a Morocco plan doesn't touch your regular SIM. Calls and texts on your usual number keep working exactly as before. The new plan handles data while you're there, and most phones run both at once without you doing anything else. Bank codes and two-factor texts still arrive on your home number, as long as that line stays switched on.
In this region the alternatives are a home-carrier roaming rate that is often eye-watering or not offered at all, a local SIM that means ID registration at a counter, or hotel Wi-Fi. A Morocco plan added at home beats all three: one price agreed before you fly, live the second you land, and a Middle East and North Africa plan if the trip takes in more than one country.
